Someone made or tried to make a video of the Back Alley Ride, I don't remember who it was. If the video is eventually posted somewhere, please provide a link. Thanks

I think it was Misti. I'll check with her and make sure she posts the link.

Excellent, that was an epic ride. Hope the lens wasn't too dusty.

Hey guys, yup, I got some awesome vid footage from the Back Alley ride. BUT, it's gonna take a few days for me to get it all edited together. I recently acquired Final Cut Studio and really want to make a cool production vid.

So, please bear with me and I'll post it as soon as it's complete! :D

I tried to explain to those who didn't attend, what the Back Alley Ride was all about.
This is from the OSC board, not sur it will work by pasting.

Not certain words can explain what took place on the Back Alley Ride. This ride took place in the dark, after 11pm. I think I was about 6th in line. Absolutely wide open in every gear, skidding, sliding, jumping, and hoping the chances being taken didn't end in disaster. Stop signs, Red lights, speed limits, right of way, every traffic law completely ignored. Hooligans on Scooters it was and I've never seen a finer display of group riding disobedience. Going places a sane individual wouldn't try sober, this was special. Scooters running wide open with not more than 3 feet between them, after the ride Corey said he had hit the back bumper of my Fireball at one point but I didn't notice. At least part of the ride took place in a warehouse district, up and down loading docks, through concrete factories, down abandoned alleys, sidewalks, train tracks, along fences, gravel, dust, broken glass, dumpsters, trash, and mud everywhere. Think that place is called "West Bottoms" in KC.
The dust was unbelievable, at the end of the ride I blew my nose and it wasn't pretty. Your welcome for sharing that detail.
20 Scooters racing down alleys and passages kind of like in downtown Omaha in the Old Market but behind the buildings. The places you would never go in daytime let alone after dark. Then between the warehouses where the alley intersects the street you might roll off the throttle to check before you cross a 4 lane road because of traffic, I never stopped once. One crossing I knew it would be close, after crossing I was hoping those behind me stopped or they would have been hit. Nobody was hit, guess they stopped.
At one point we were presented with a trail at the base of a steep hill with a fence and overgrown with trees on the other side, really narrow and overgrown with tree branches sticking out from the side and from overhead. Enough to knock you off your Scooter. Several Kids at the top of the hill behind another fence were looking down shouting something at us, didn't stick around to find out what. Pretty sure I scooped up some mud into the caliper of my front disc brake on that stage, also stepped in a mud puddle and soiled my Vans. Front brake was sticking the rest of the Rally, guess I'll have to disassemble the caliper, clean, and re-lube the slide pins.
Another part was down a long stretch of Train tracks, the choice was inside, outside, or down the center of the tracks but once committed you couldn't jump the rails if you changed your mind or came upon an obstacle. I took the middle, a real filling rattler.
I recall at the time thinking the poor saps who chose the inside or outside of the rails had it a lot worse than I did.
Corey was riding behind dumpsters while I was going down the center of the alley, I was hoping he didn't find a guy wire or other obstruction behind there because we were going pretty fast. He didn't or he would have been injured.
That was but one of several excursions down Train tracks, another place we were under a large viaduct stopped waiting for a long slow Train to pass, pitch black, several gun shots rang out in the distance. I was already pumped from the ride; the gunfire didn't bother as long as no ricochet's came by us. They didn't.
Part of the ride took place in swanky areas, don't ask me where just downtown Kansas City, kind of fancy. A Stella with a Sito+ exhaust at high rpm in lower gears is fairly rude sounding in close proximity but on this ride there were many of the Scooters with real LOUD exhausts making 2 stroke smoke; we buzzed some fancy looking outdoor Restaurants full of patrons at least one from a couple of different directions. I'm sure they were impressed with our antics.
I imagined several phone calls that went like this...
KC911: Kansas City 911 what is your emergency?
Upset Patron: I'm eating outside at Joe Blows Chop Shop and like 25 Hooligans on Motor Scooters just came down the sidewalk completely out of control, they've ruined our dinner. Someone is going to be injured.
KC911: This is Kansas City on a Friday night Ma'am, we're limiting our response to stabbings, shootings, robberies, and assaults, enjoy your dessert and forget about it.
Corey was busy alternating between the street and sidewalk and one fellow tried to explain the error in his ways as he went by...Corey was gone by about the 4th word. From my perspective, Corey should have won the Angry J. Jackass award.
This is about 5% of how the back Alley Ride went, most of it is a blur now.
Intense is an understatement. It was like you entered a zone of concentration or risk injury or death or at least crash your Scooter.
I would do it again tomorrow.
There is no other Rally I know of that offers the sheer exhileration/stupidity of a ride like that.
It was like Beavis and Butt-Head teamed up with Johnny Knoxville and the Jackass Crew for urban Scooter racing in Kansas City.
There are at least 2 different videos of the Back Alley Ride, links to follow when posted.

We should see about getting that write up into Scoot and put the vid links in the article. That's terrific.
